About The AGC
The Augustana Greek Catholic lives at the intersection of three Christian traditions:
- Evangelical Lutheran,
- Eastern Orthodox,
- and Roman Catholic.
Not a comfortable position.
The theological experiments presented here may not satisfy all the confessional requirements of any of the three. The editor and authors, therefore, wish their essays to be understood as heuristic trials rather than as stubborn convictions.
A scouting party explores alien terrain and returns to reports its findings; it may have suggestions, but others must decide which direction to take the army. Please read these contributions in this way, with as much charity as you can muster.
The AGC Rose
The rose is an adaptation of the famous Luther Rose. The central heart and Latin cross of Luther’s Rose have been replace with the Greek cross and the letters IC XC NIKA, meaning “Jesus Christ, conquer!” This cross and inscription are a common symbol in Eastern Orthodoxy. It is impressed, for example, upon the loaves used for the Eucharist.
